Grandma

This poem was written in response to the quadrille challenge on dverse poets.

Grandma

He held her hand
Soft and limp as butter pastry
Stroked her thin hair
Kissed her cool cheek
Begged her
Not to leave
Just yet
Tears drizzled
Like lemon icing
Down his pale face
But in her eyes he saw
She had already gone
